Welcome to Sun Mana.
We are an initiative based in Wellington, New Zealand that has set out
to bring electricity and education about solar power systems to remote, off-the-grid locations by utilising
solar energy. Energy from the sun is clean, free, and plentiful, and
equipment to collect solar energy can be used effectively on a small
scale basis. We see solar energy as the perfect way to bring clean,
cheap
electricity to places that have never seen it before.
Our current mid term goals are to create an educational,
interactive DVD from material in a well established UNESCO publication
called "Solar Photovoltaic Systems Technical Training Manual",
establish a demonstration house of a 1.5KW solar power system, and
deploy solar systems in the Marshal Islands. With success of our
efforts, we intend to target other of-the-grid locations and
communities. We have been contracted by a project that is funded by
the
USDA Rural
Development Agency. We are working hard towards becoming a USDA
success story.
Our team consists of several members with a wide spectrum of
specialisations. Read about them here.
